10 MINUTE GUT BRAIN RESET ROUTINE FOR BETTER GUT HEALTH BY MY WAY UP


Your brain and your gut are intimately connected. Calming your body and mind down each day helps to improve the quality of their connection.

Here's a simple 10 minute routine that you can use to improve your gut-brain functioning.


1. Use the My Way Up Binaural Beats Soundtrack.

A binaural beat is music and sounds that create an illusion by the brain when two tones of slightly different frequencies are listened to at the same time.

Your brain interprets the two tones as a single beat on its own. Your brain will align with the frequency of the beat (the "frequency-following effect") and can be used as a powerful tool to help guide the mind into an altered state.

2. Belly Breathing.

Breathing with your diaphragm instead of your neck is an important way to signal to your brain that you're calm, cool and collected. 

Lie down and place a water bottle on your belly. When you breathe in, the bottle should go towards the roof. When you breathe out, the bottle should fall towards your spine. Practice this whilst listening to your binaural beats.

Ideally, unless you're exercising heavily, this should be your normal breathing. When you really think about it, is it good to be breathing with your neck? 

When you aren't belly breathing, that's precisely what you're doing.

3. Daily Affirmations.

Self talk is an important driver of your internal environment. Daily affirmations externalise your inner monologue. Saying certain phrases out loud whilst engaged in belly breathing, whilst listening to binaural beats is a very powerful habit stack.

Got a housemate that you don't want hearing your affirmations? That's ok, say them to yourself internally. An example of an affirmation is "I am enough," or "I am in charge of how I feel and today."

Spend the final 30 seconds of your breathing and beats practice on affirmations.

4. Daily Detox Shot.
