Seed Oil free granola recipe

Gut smarter

Seed- and vegetable oils are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and are inherently unstable and prone to oxidation. When exposed to heat, light, or oxygen, these oils form harmful free radicals that can damage cells, proteins, and DNA. This damage contributes to aging and chronic diseases, making seed oils a significant concern for long-term health.

Best to swap seed- and vegetable oils for traditional fats like extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, ghee or butter.

Ingredients

Makes 3-6 serves

  • 4 cups organic oats
  • 2 tbsp Collagen Restore
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1/2 - 1 cup dried fruit of choice (i.e. raisins, cranberries, bananas, mangoes)

Method

  • Preheat oven to 150°C/300°F.
  • Combine all dry ingredients, melted butter and the egg white. Spread out on and baked at 150°C for 30 minutes.
  • Then stir the granola oven down to 250°C, and bake until golden brown.
  • The granola will come out soft, but will harden immediately.
