Are shelf stable probiotics a thing?

Yes- and no. Here's why.

Opti Flor precision probiotics for diarrhoea

What are probiotics exactly?

They’re good-for-you live microbes — either yeast or bacteria. There are countless of strains to choose from that serve different purposes (i.e. diarrhoea, bloating, IBS etc) with fun scientific names like Saccromyces Boulardii and Bifidobacterium.

Are shelf-stable probiotics a thing?

Bacteria, just like humans, are sensitive. Many of the best types don't like heat. Whether shelf stable or not, they do die off faster at warmer temperatures.

Our shelf stable technology is state-of-the-art. But, it's also no different to the manufacturing tech used by other probiotic brands.

A couple of things to know

  • Probiotics die off faster at higher temperatures than lower temperatures.
  • Most probiotics don't have what you're paying for, because the probiotics are deceased!
  • Whilst our probiotics are shelf stable, we recommend putting theme in the fridge after opening.
  • We overfill our probiotics by 180% on average, so you're getting more than what you pay for, just in case, there is some unexpected die off of the probiotics - you're still more than covered.
  • We independently test every probiotic strain we have under different temperature conditions. Bought probiotics from us? Nice, you got MORE than what you paid for.
